Why I decided to go into social work:
I have always been a helper – reaching out to people around me since a very young age. I was a peer counselor in high school and realized that I loved helping people sort out life’s problems and find solutions. When I was faced with the decision of what my major would be in college, it just made sense that I would be a social worker. I share the values and beliefs of the social work profession and believe strongly that I am not just a social worker while at work – it is who I am.
The most rewarding thing about working at Gateway:
I am new to Gateway Community Services, but my time here has already been rewarding. The staff and client’s were very welcoming upon my arrival and I already feel like part of the team! It is an honor to work with the youth and watch them make positive changes in their life!
